Since student is coming to the U.S./Canada alone and his/her parent(s) are not available for all school matters such as teacher's conference, other school events that parents need to participate, the host becomes the guardian of the student for all school matters. The host needs to talk to student's teacher minimum once a month and to participate in parent events in school and to convey the opinions to student's parents.
